Kalimpong is a beautiful place of grate attraction. this sleepy little town situated at an altitude of 1,200 mtrs, some 50 kms to the east of Darjeeling. It once used to be the hub of the trans-Himalayan trade between India and Tibet when merchants used to ferry commerce by mule caravan over the Jelepla pass on the Sikkim-Tibet border.
The places to visit are Kalimpong Arts and Craft Center for handicraft goods, Tharpa Choling Monastery, a repository of old scriptures, and documents Thongsa (Bhutan) Monastery, the oldest in the area Dharmodaya Vihar, a Nepalese Bhuddhist Temple Parnami Mandir and Mangal Dham, Durpin Danda from where the mountain ranges of Sikkim, including Jelepla, Tiger Hill and the confluence of the Relli, Riang and Tista rivers can be views. Crockety (Kalimpong)
It is one of the colonial bungalows of the British Raj during their rule of India. It is open to public for viewing. It has excellent architecture and is majestic looking. It was built by the wool traders of Britain in the 18th century.
The house is quaint and is found in the upper section of the town of Kalimpong. Crockety is one among the favourites in attracting tourist. Just located at the back of this house is the house of famous poet Rabindranath Tagore. He broadcast his poem Janmadin on the all India radio on his birthday from this house.

By Train: The nearest railway station to Army Golf Course, Kalimpong is New Jalpaiguri which is located at a distance of around 72 km from here.
By Air: The nearest airport to Army Golf Course is Bagdogra which is located at a distance of around 77 km from here.
By Road: The nearest nodal point to both New Jalpaiguri and Bagdogra is Siliguri which is located at a distance of around 10 km from here and from Siliguri traveller will get ample of road services to reach Kalimpong.
After reaching Kalimpong traveller can always hire cab to reach here.

Nature Interpretation Centre

Neora National Park
The famous Neora National Park is located in Kalimpong was established in the year 1986. Considered as one of the wealthiest biological zones, this park spreads over a region of about 88 Sq. km. and is situated near Lava at a dense forest in the foothill of majestic Himalayan Mountains.
This park is bordered by the forests of Sikkim region on one side and by Bhutan on the other. The flora and fauna of this park makes it more beautiful. Natural forests which contain different varieties of trees enrich this place. Large numbers of orchids as well as bamboo groves remain as the special feature of the Neora National Park.

How to reach

NEORA VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

The popular tourist destination Lava (which is about 105kms from NJP and 34kms from Kalimpong) is located quite close to Neora Valley National Park. The entrance to the park at a village named Kolakham is about 10kms from Lava. It takes over 1 hour to reach Lava from Kalimpong and over 3 hours from NJP (via Kalimpong).

From Lava the distance of 10kms to Neora Valley would easily take another 1 hour because of the bad road condition. A jeep type vehicle is available to negotiate this approach road to Neora.
